Meet Victor Souza — The Experience Behind Motopro Performance

Originally from Brazil, Victor began developing his career and technical knowledge in the motorcycle industry before moving to Australia in 2019. Throughout his career, he has invested time in professional mechanical training, manufacturer-specific education and hands-on workshop experience.

His interest extends beyond identifying a fault or replacing a component. Understanding how motorcycle systems work together — and how a motorcycle responds on the road, circuit or trail — informs his approach to servicing, diagnostics and setup.

A Career Built on Knowledge and Experience

Before establishing Motopro Performance, Victor gained dealership experience involving Honda, Husqvarna and Kawasaki motorcycles. His technical education includes BMW and Ducati training, as well as Honda factory training completed in Australia.

Manufacturer training and practical dealership work have contributed in different ways to his knowledge. Technical education developed his understanding of manufacturer-specific systems and service procedures, while workshop experience provided opportunities to apply that knowledge to maintenance, repairs and diagnostics across Japanese and European motorcycles.

Understanding Suspension, From the Inside Out

Motorcycle suspension is one of Victor’s principal technical interests. He has developed this knowledge through specialist training in both Brazil and Australia, alongside practical servicing and setup work.

Training in Brazil — Gigante

In Brazil, Victor completed motorcycle suspension training with instructor Gigante, covering techniques from basic through advanced levels.

Training in Australia — Shock Treatments

In Australia, he completed three separate motorcycle suspension courses with Shock Treatments, spanning basic through advanced education. This was separate from his training with Gigante in Brazil.

These courses contributed to his understanding of fork and shock internals, servicing and rebuilding, compression and rebound damping, spring preload and sag, motorcycle geometry, and rider-specific setup.

Professional suspension work involves more than fresh fork oil or a few clicker adjustments. Suspension influences how a motorcycle transfers weight under braking and acceleration, maintains traction and feels through a corner. Component condition, spring selection and damping settings all affect the result.

Victor combines this training with mechanical experience and rider feedback to assess what the motorcycle needs. The aim is a setup suited to the rider’s weight, intended use and available adjustment, with a clear explanation of the recommended work.

Experience in Australian Superbike Racing

Victor’s experience also includes assisting with motorcycle preparation and technical work in the Australian motorcycle racing environment. His involvement included mechanical checks, race preparation, setup assistance and general technical support during racing activities.

Competitive racing places close attention on preparation, handling and mechanical reliability. That environment contributed to Victor’s understanding of performance and the value of consistent checks — an approach that also benefits motorcycles used for commuting, weekend rides and touring.

A Mechanic Who Understands Riding

Victor is also an active motorcycle rider. Experiencing a motorcycle from the saddle gives him another perspective on the feedback customers bring to the workshop.

Track Riding at Sydney Motorsport Park

He regularly rides his Kawasaki ZX-6R at Sydney Motorsport Park, Eastern Creek, participating in the experienced/fast group. Circuit riding gives him practical insight into suspension behaviour, braking, weight transfer, cornering stability and tyre traction, as well as how setup changes affect rider confidence.

Hard Enduro Riding

Victor also participates in hard enduro riding, where uneven terrain and changing grip create different demands. Off-road riding develops an appreciation of suspension response, balance, traction and rider control at a range of speeds.

Combined with his professional training, this riding experience helps him understand customer descriptions of how a motorcycle feels and recommend appropriate mechanical checks or suspension adjustments.

The Philosophy Behind Motopro Performance

Victor established Motopro Performance to create an owner-led workshop centred on technical knowledge, personalised service and attention to detail. At the workshop, the team prioritises honest advice, careful assessment and workmanship that supports customer confidence.

His manufacturer education, specialist suspension training, racing assistance and personal riding experience contribute to that approach. Each motorcycle is considered according to its condition, service requirements and the way its owner rides.
